Cannot find twain

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I registered because the companies I am dealing with are of no help, at all levels of support. I installed the software for an all-in-one EPSON printer, NX 400, I keep getting "cannot find necessary files - reinstall software," message. I tried several different drivers with the aid of EPSON techs to no avail. They blame Gateway. The techs at Gateway say its not a computer problem, but they did not go through any diagnostics with me. I tried connecting a different scanner, Canon LiDE 70 . When I try to scan with this device, I get "cannot locate twain," message.

Help please.

What OS? What Application are you trying?

Hi thanks for responding. The operating system is windows vista. The application that gives me the "cannot find twain messge" is the software for the canon lide 70 scanner.

Hi jn,

If you are using Vista, please try running your application as administrator (right-click the application and click Run as).

If the problem persists, you may try turning off the DEP to see if it helps. For information on how to turn off DEP, please refer to:

Thanks for responding. I will make note of your suggestions for future reference. A few days ago, the scanner message "cannot find twain" stopped appearing and the scanner stared working normally. I made no changes to any settings; I'm not sure why or how it started working but it is. I assume that an automatic update fixed the problem. Thanks again for your suggestions.
